Chapter fifty

The day dragged waiting for Kal to call to see me, I was nancy and getting more and more irritable by the second. Everytime my room door opened my heart near stopped. Ok, I knew he said he'd call around six, but, Well I was kinda hoping it'll be sooner you know.
Matt called in, he was stapled up and given pain meds and gotten his discharge. He was relieved, we hugged before he left. I spoke about ma and her plans with Kal, which matty was a little concerned about. " You think it will all be good?"
I shook my head, "Yeah I do"
"Why, how can you be so sure?, that bitch is a psycho,.... man, ma ain't used to that?"
"Matt, relax ok, it'll be good, trust me, ma has Kal in her corner, Antonia and those goons don't stand a chance."
"But,..."
"no buts bro, ma will be good already."
He raised his eyes at my confidence, he was still unsure, out of the two of us matt was far more sceptical and untrusting than I was... he continued to let his feelings be known...

"ok, but I hope you're right, I don't wanna be visiting you and ma...."

this time I snapped,

" trust me, stop being a jackass, that ain't gonna happen!"
" Oh Ok Mr smart ass, what makes you so god damn sure?" I calmed my voice and kept the sarcasm light...
" Ma was a marine, she has Kal, you know what the Romano family are right? Or you a dumbass too?" 
with a smile on my face I waited until the look of realisation finally registered with Matt, he smiled back at me and said no more.

Getting up he walked to the door, before he left he asked, "You'll call me right? " I shook my head, he half raised his arm in salute as the door closed behind him , after he'd gone I just watched the minutes and hours ticking by.
By the afternoon, all my nurses had been together with the Doctors and all agreed I was making remarkable progress, which was great news,  I could start making a plan to get myself outta there as soon as possible, my main focus being getting back to my tour and rebuilding my life with my wife. But, right now, I was again left alone.

With nothing to do I flicked on the tv for company, anything to break the silence that was deafening, I really wasn't paying much attention until a news report caught my eye.

" a young women, believed to be caught in the center of the Bon Jovi Scandal has been taken to Maryfield Hospital after a collision in her car with a runaway truck. The driver of the truck has not been found, Police are keen to speak with anyone that can give light on the incident. the number to call 555-3187-6588." Watching the screen they briefly showed Antonia being taken away on a gurney heading into the ambulance. Her car was in the background and there was not much left that you could say it was a car, it was just a mangled wreck, she was all blooded and looked in a pretty bad way too. I could not stop myself... "Pay backs a bitch aint it...Let that be a lesson, don't fuck with the Bongiovi's " I smiled to myself, but more than anything; I now wanted to see Kal., the questions were burning inside my brain.
I looked at the clock, 5.30pm, half an hour; maybe more, I was restless, I flicked through more channels trying to find something to occupy my restless mind, I found nothing.  Turning the set off, and with nothing to do but wait I tried closing my eye's, concentrating on my breathing I tried to sleep, but moments later my room door opened and in walked Kal, walking towards me he was all smiles
"Jon bro"
He lent in and hugged me, and immediately seated himself on the chair,

"Kal, so where's my ma?"
He answered casually still with a smile on his handsome face, " Oh, she's with my ma, there having dinner and catch up together,.... you know what there like right? ...." taking a pause he studied my injuries before announcing " So, you look like shit man,  you have a fight with a truck?" we both laughed as I replied,

"Something like that yeah" 

"so all gonna be good for you?"
I shook my head, " Yep, Docs say I'm gonna be fine," as nice as it was chatting about my well being I wanted answers...  looking him straight in the eye I asked, "so, what the fuck happened today?
He sneered, and laughed "Aw, nothing much, just a little pay back" he took a packet of candy from his pocket, opened the contents and put a couple in his mouth. his eyes twinkled as he winked, but he said no more.
